In January 2012 Virtus acquired the Mackay Day Hospital. Renamed the Mackay Specialist Day Hospital, to recognise the change in ownership, the facility is a two theatre day surgey supporting Queensland Fertility Group's patients for their IVF treatment in Mackay. Formerly a member of the Vision Group, the day surgery has been operating in the region for 10 years undertaking IVF and a range of other specialty medical procedures.
The acquisition of the Mackay facility expands Virtus' day hospital portfolio to six consolidating its position as a major provider of day surgery services in Australia.
